Sugar Land woman gets prison for $3.6M embezzlement

HOUSTON Prosecutors say 50-year-old Diana Simon of Sugar Land had worked for Kaneka Texas of Pasadena. Simon in September pleaded guilty to wire fraud.

She also was ordered Monday to make restitution to the chemical company for funds taken from June 2006 through February 2008.

Prosecutors say Simon used the embezzled funds to buy luxury items, such as a home, vehicles and jewelry, plus for gambling trips to Louisiana and Las Vegas.

Simon remains free on bond until federal authorities set a date for her to report to prison.
