Fire strikes washateria in east Houston

HOUSTON The flames sparked at a washateria at around 11:45pm Friday night on Lyons at Gregg.

Houston firefighters made a fast attack, and got the fire knocked down before it spread to other buildings in the shopping center. A grocery store next to the washateria suffered smoke damage. That store may not be able to open Saturday.

Detectives said it appears that the fire may have started because of an electrical problem. No one was hurt in the blaze.
