New push to arrest hundreds charged with assault

HOUSTON Garcia's deputies will make a focused effort to find 452 people charged with felony aggravated assault. One of those includes Michael Barnett, accused of beating his brother with a baseball bat in July. Sheriff Garcia says this crackdown targets people accused of nearly killing someone during an assault.

"Some of these cases do speak to a homicide that didn't occur only because the victim survived and so those are the cases we want to put at the top of the list," Sheriff Garcia explained.
