Local Olympians Evora, Hedrick see weekend action

HOUSTON After last night's short program, Evora and her partner, Mark Ladwig, are in 10th place. Tonight is the pair's free skate, which begins at 7pm. It's Evora's last chance to become a medal contender.

Speed skater Chad Hedrick, who was born and raised in Spring, finished in 11th place in his first race of the Olympics. The 32-year-old Hedrick says the 5,000-meter event was just a warm-up. He's focusing more on the men's 1,000-meter on Wednesday and the 1,500-meter on Saturday.

In the 2006 winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Hedrick won 3 medals, including a gold, silver and bronze.
