Alleged child molester arrested in Chambers County

OLD RIVER-WINFREE, TX Allene Lambert says she was always suspicious of her next door neighbor, Ronnie Lee Odom.

"When his wife was at work he wouldn't let his own kids come out and play, but he had every neighborhood kid out here to play," Lambert said. "Every boy he could think of and he would take them off on 4-wheelers and take them off in the woods by themselves. It was something that I knew was wrong."

Court documents show Odom lived on a remote and rural street in the small community of Old River Winfree in Liberty County, where Odom is accused of having sex with underage boys. Neighbors say Odom moved out several months ago.

A letter released by Chambers County Sheriff Joe LaRive says there is 'no comment' on the Odom case and authorities refuse to release Odom's mug shot.

Odom was arrested in Chambers County and is behind bars in the Chambers County Jail, charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child.

The victims, at least four teenage boys, have been referred to Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center in Liberty for interviews and counseling. Authorities believe there may be more victims. As for neighbors, they worry about the future.

"What if he gets out on bond or something? My son runs up and down here playing, so of course I'm concerned," said neighbor Barbie Tannehill.

Odom remains behind bars. If there are other victims, officials in Chambers County are asking them to come forward and give their story to authorities.
