Bat exclusion process wraps up in Temple

TEMPLE, TX A bat exclusion process for the Temple Independent School District has wrapped up with efforts to clear away places the furry animals consider home at Wildcat Stadium.

Assistant Superintendent Kent Boyd said Monday was the last day of work "to have everything sealed up and taken care of."

The Temple school district had advised residents near the the high school about efforts to seal cracks and other bat-friendly areas under the bleachers.

The district last fall announced it would work with Bat Conservation International of Austin to get thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats to abandon the football venue. The bats are the same kind found beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin.

The district also is installing two bat houses on nearby property as homes for some of the flying creatures.
