Ex-school board member faces child pornography charges

LA PORTE, TX After a three month investigation, La Porte Police officers who are assigned to the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force have filed four counts of possession of child pornography on Larry Donald Cox, 65, of La Porte, Texas.

Officers from La Porte, Pasadena ISD, Houston, Harris County Sherriff's Office and Harris County Precinct 4 Constables office executed a search warrant on Cox's residence, located in the 10300 block of Catlett, on January 6. Police say numerous computers and other computer media were collected as evidence. A forensic examination reportedly revealed numerous images and videos of child pornography on the computer's hard drive that were in the possession on Cox.

Bond has been set at $10,000 per charge. Cox appeared in court this morning, where a judge ordered him to stay away from computers, the internet and children under the age of 17.

Cox resigned from the La Porte school board on January 7. Prosecutors say Cox was also a former school principal and he previously played football for the Denver Broncos.
