Man shot outside grocery store in NE Houston

Police say the victim was shot in the head and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are searching for a man who fired a gun at a person outside a neighborhood grocery store in northeast Houston. It happened last night at Danny's Food Store on Collingsworth near Russell. Witnesses say a man walked up to a group of people and fired several shots at them. One man was hit in the head by a bullet.

The victim, 43, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors stated he was brain dead, but have not pronounced the man dead. His identity is being withheld at this time.

The suspect ran away and remains on the loose.
