A Baltimore Orioles official familiar with the decision says the team has agreed on a 1-year deal to bring back Miguel Tejada, who played with the club from 2004 through 2007. The person spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract hinges on Tejada passing a physical, which has not yet been given.

Tejada played shortstop with the Orioles before being traded to Houston in 2007 for five players. He is now tabbed for third base with the release of Melvin Mora. Cesar Izturis is expected to stay at shortstop.

Tejada hit .313 with 14 home runs and 86 RBIs in 158 games last season for the Astros. The 35-year-old became a free agent after the Astros refused to offer him arbitration last month.
