Entertainment, texting and more in Free Stuff Friday

HOUSTON Thursday is always a special day at four area Houston museums because it's free. The Health Museum is free from 2pm to 5pm. The Weather Museum is free from noon until 4pm. Over at the Children's Museum, it's free family night from 5pm to 8pm. The museum of fine arts is free all day, from 10am to 9pm.

If you text a lot or have kids who do, check out a new free application for the iPhone or iTouch. It's called Text Plus and the app lets users text as much as they want for free. It's already been downloaded by millions and according to Apple, it's currently among the top 50 free apps.

Monday, January 18 is your last chance to watch the region's best figure skaters and ice show performers bring their talent to the Ice at Discovery Green. It's a great way to get into the spirit of this year's winter Olympics. The event is sanctioned by US Figure Skating.

Finally for those who would like to market themselves or their business, Vistaprint.com has a ton of freebies. Choose from several free items like a box of 250 business cards, free postcards, plus a free photo calendar and so much more. The company is hoping you like their stuff so much, you'll come back again. Shipping is free if your free stuff is valued at $30 or more.
