Charges have been filed against a driver in a fatal wreck along the East Freeway last week. Michael Joseph Dove, 22, is charged with intoxication manslaughter following the wreck along the 12,900 block of the East Freeway early Friday morning.

According to officers, it was just before 6am when a black Chevrolet Impala was heading eastbound on the freeway. That vehicle struck the back of a Dodge truck, causing both vehicles to lose control. A female passenger got out of the truck to check on the driver of the Impala, which had ended up on the entrance ramp.

That's when investigators say a black Dodge Charger driven by Dove entered the freeway and struck the Impala, ejecting the occupant of that vehicle and killing the 28-year-old female who had gotten out of the truck.

The Impala driver was transported to LBJ Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The identification of the woman killed at the scene has not been released.
