Bicyclist accused of impersonating officer

TEXAS CITY, TX Texas City police say the 20-year-old man is also facing a public intoxication charge.

The cyclist wore a coat with a police "communications" patch on it, from The Colony, when he was stopped Tuesday night. Sgt. Joe Stanton says the bike rider was swerving "all over the road."

The Colony Police Chief Joe Clark viewed an e-mail photo of the jacket and patch and said it was for dispatchers and issued about a decade ago.

Clark says the jacket likely came from a thrift store. Stanton says the man claims a friend gave him the jacket.

Prosecutors will review the case. The Colony is just north of Dallas.
