Teller shot during bank robbery inside Kroger

HOUSTON It was a shock for customers who were caught in the middle of a violent bank robbery around 2:00pm at the First Convenience Bank inside the Kroger store at 9119 Westheimer. Houston police said one suspect walked inside, pulled a gun and demanded cash. The suspect apparently was not happy with the amount of money he was given so he fired a shot towards the floor, which ricocheted and hit the employee in the leg.

As the suspect was leaving the store, he fired a second round that struck a pipe and set off a sprinkler system. The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and was seen getting into the passenger side of a green SUV.

The shooter is described as a black male with light to medium complexion and about six feet tall. He was wearing a purple shirt and dark pants. Police are also looking for the accomplice who was driving the SUV.

The injury to the employee is described as not life-threatening.

Kroger officials told us that portions of the store do remain open to the public.
