Two rescued from snowstorm in desert

EL PASO, TX The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says the motorists were located shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday. Both were healthy and unharmed in their truck.

The sheriff's department says 24-year-old driver Ramon Hill and 41-year-old Melissa Fruge were unfamiliar with the terrain. They had been stranded since Sunday night, but used a cell phone to call for help until the battery weakened.

Authorities say Hill reported the pickup was running low on fuel and the two had no food and little to drink.

Search teams, including Border Patrol agents with all-terrain pickups, reached the pair in an area about 20 miles into the desert. The location is about 10 miles from Highway 62/180.
