A corrections official says a fight broke out among more than 100 inmates at an Arizona prison, injuring 7 inmates and a corrections officer. Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Barrett Marson says the Wednesday morning fight prompted officials to put the Lewis prison complex on lockdown for several hours.

Maricopa Medical Center Michael Murphy says several of the inmates suffered head injuries but that none were life-threatening. Marson says the officer suffered bumps and bruises, and five inmates were flown to a Phoenix hospital.

He says no weapons were used in the fight, which broke out in a high-security unit of the prison about 35 miles west of Phoenix.
