A robbery spree turned into a chase along the North Freeway overnight, as angry customers and then police officers followed three thieves. It started when the three men robbed a hotel on FM 1960 at Imperial Valley. Police say the three men went into the lobby of the hotel and then held a female clerk at gunpoint. They then took off with an unknown amount of cash.

Authorities say they then drove to a Subway shop along the North Freeway near West Road and held up the workers and customers. Three customers decided to follow the thieves as they left the restaurant. The customers called police and the chase was on.

Te suspects eventually crashed their car into a ditch in northeast Houston. All three suspects jumped out and ran. They were eventually caught.

Investigators say the car they wrecked may have been stolen.
