Free Stuff Friday: Santa pics, Drop & Swap

HOUSTON The holiday season is just about to kick off and there are lots of freebies -- a free photo with Santa, a free Wi-Fi, and an event at the Galleria that will get you in the mood for the season. Plus, for holiday travelers, there is a freebie for at the airport!

If you are traveling this holiday season, you can enjoy free Wi-Fi at 47 airports across the country, including Hobby and Bush Intercontinental. Just bring a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop or mobile device and stay connected to family and friends for free while you travel. There is a Web site for more information, and the deal runs through Jan. 15th, 2010.

The 21st annual Ice Spectacular at the Galleria Ice Center will kick off the holiday season Saturday at 6pm. The 30-minute tree lighting show will feature performances by American idol finalist Diana Degarmo and competitive and professional skaters. Bring the whole family because, it's free admission.

Instead of spending money at the mall for a photo with Santa, how about getting one free? Bass Pro Shops are hosting their annual Santa's Wonderland. Attendees can get a free 4×6 photo of his/her child with Santa and every weekend until Christmas. Kids can also make crafts and participated in games and activities -- all for free. Speaking of children, Boston Market has extended it kids eat free program through Jan. 31. The deal work like this: Two kids eat free with a $6 minimum adult purchase. The offer is only good Saturdays and Sundays and while no coupon is required, the kids must be present. Visit the eatery's Web site for more information.

For those who love the idea or re-using, re-purposing and recycling -- this next free event is for you! Sustainable Living in Houston, a nonprofit environmental group, is hosting their second annual Drop and Swap event Saturday. From 8am-12pm, people can simply drop off what you don't want or need -- clothes, electronics, other useable household items -- which will then be available for "shopping" from 4-7pm. People will be able to take home anything they want or need for free.
