Fire breaks out in Heights area again

HOUSTON A fire broke out at a building on West 19th near Durham early this morning, which is near the locations of more than a dozen suspicious fires that have broken out since August.

Firefighters say it broke out around 4:30am at a garage to a private residence. Firefighters were able to knock out the fire pretty quickly. A neighbor told Eyewitness News that a couple used to live at the home but moved out a while back.

Arson investigators are on the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

If this fire is ruled an arson, it would likely make this the 17th fire in the Heights area. The first one broke out in early August at a home on Ashland.

Police are still trying to find the person who is setting those fires. If you have any information in this case, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
