NBC's Todd: Signature goatee stays

October 23, 2009 9:59:57 AM PDT
The "goatee gamble" is over. NBC White House correspondent Chuck Todd lost a bet with ABC's Jake Tapper when the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers to go to the World Series. He was supposed to shave his signature goatee. Morning TV viewers even got to see press secretary Robert Gibbs standing next to Todd with a razor on the White House lawn.

But the beard stays. Todd had the option of giving $1,000 to the charity of Tapper's choice. So he's making a donation to a Pakistani obstetrician who helps women with high-risk pregnancies.

Tapper says via Twitter that he will match the contribution.
