Woman rescued from burning apartment

HOUSTON The fire started on the second floor of an apartment building on Corporate at Langdon. There were reports that children were possibly trapped inside when the fire broke out.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting from the top of the complex and heavy smoke hanging over the building. Apparently, rescue crews pulled one woman out of the building. She was wheeled away on a gurney. Her condition is not known at this time.

The fire reached the attic and spread to at least half of the units at the building. Many people say they had only a few moments to grab their children and rush out.

"My husband was on the computer and we came outside and we just saw smoke and in a matter of minutes, the whole thing just started up in flames," said resident Erica Horton.

Ironically, a fire destroyed the building next door to this complex one year ago. It is still boarded up from that fire.
