Police: Woman robbed by fake students

BAYTOWN, TX According to Baytown police, on Wednesday, September 23, at approximately 5pm, a resident of Shady Creek Apartments, located in the 1200 block of Knowlton Road, reported suspicious activity on her bank account. After checking her purse, the 75-year-old victim reportedly notified her bank that her Visa card and MasterCard were missing.

Police say the woman told them that two young white males in their mid to early 20s had visited her apartment at approximately 3pm. The suspects told her they were doing a project for college and needed to ask her some questions to complete the project.

The victim allowed the men to come inside her residence for approximately one hour. Shortly after they left, police say the victim received a phone call from her bank regarding numerous, suspicious transactions on her account.

Detectives with the Baytown Police Department fraud division were able to obtain video footage of the victim's card being used at a local store. One of the suspects appears to be in his mid twenties and has dark short hair. This suspect was last seen leaving the store in a tan Chevrolet Suburban with a paper tag similar to 0204605.
