Big rig crashes into car dealership

BAYTOWN, TX [PHOTOS: See images from the damage]

An 18-wheeler driving westbound on I-10 somehow lost control, skidded off the freeway, through the grass, across the frontage road and right into the Community Toyota parking lot, turning seven cars in clunkers.

We talked to one of the reps at the dealership who said they were closing down for the night, crunching numbers, when they heard a loud explosion. Then the lights went out.

"I ran outside to see what happened and I saw the electric lights just exploded," said Arnold Aredalo of Community Toyota. "Then I came out to the street and that's when I saw the truck there. I've never seen anything like this before."

We were told they lost about seven vehicles at the dealership.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was severely injured, but was talking to medics when he was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Police say they are still investigating. They did speak with the driver who told authorities that he sneezed and the next thing he knew, he was in the parking lot. As for the goods the driver was carrying, we are told they were not hazardous.
