The Houston National Cemetery will get a million dollars to make improvements and expand. The Department of Veteran Affairs awarded a contract to an Austin company. The money will pay to develop about 20 acres into new burial sections, as well as build a new public information center and restrooms.

The project is scheduled to be finished next spring.
