It appears the child was left in a van parked at a home in northwest Harris County. Authorities didn't know how long the child was left in the vehicle.
The mother is believed to live at the Three Lakes subdivision off Highway 249 and showed up at the hospital by herself. Her husband, authorities say, is out of town but has been contacted by the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The mother has been brought in for routine questioning.
The baby's identity has not been released. The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of the baby's death. So far, no charges have been filed.
