Prosecutors have filed five more murder charges against an accused serial killer police say may be responsible for the deaths of as many as 30 women in Los Angeles. District attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison says 73-year-old John Floyd Thomas was charged Wednesday with the murder of five women in the 1970s and '80s. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Thomas was already in custody, charged with murdering two other women. Cold case detectives believe him responsible for the deaths of as many as 30 women, which would make him the most prolific killer in city history.

Calls to his court-appointed lawyers were not immediately returned.
