A grandmother, charged in the drowning of her grandson, headed to court Friday. Maria Ramirez is charged with criminally negligent homicide, in the February drowning of her two-year-old grandson. The boy wandered away and was found in White Oak Bayou. Initially, it was treated as an accident, but the investigation remained open and earlier this month Ramirez was charged.

"Miss Ramirez is devastated by what has happened. She thinks this was nothing but a tragic accident," said defense attorney Mark Mitchell.

Ramirez's attorney says the entire family is devastated by what's happened.
