Dallas police searched for a gunman after a security guard was shot and killed during the attempted robbery of a drive-thru ATM. Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther said the security guard was getting ready to load the machine with cash on Friday morning. Crowther says the gunman grabbed the guard around the neck and shot him, then fled.

Police searched for a white car carrying the gunman and possibly another suspect.

Details on whether any cash was stolen were not immediately released by law officers.

The shooting happened at a Chase Bank branch in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. The name of the slain guard was not immediately released.

Chase spokesman Tom Kelly in Chicago referred calls about the shooting to Dallas police.

The FBI in Dallas did not immediately return a call for comment.
