Stanford to be represented by public defender

HOUSTON Attorney Dick DeGuerin, who had been representing Stanford, was trying to withdraw from the case, saying that he hasn't been given assurances that he'll get paid. At the hearing today, a judge ruled that he DeGuerin can withdraw.

And because he says he is now broke, Stanford will be represented by a public defender.

Stanford is accused of bilking investors out of $7 billion as part of a massive Ponzi scheme.
