An escapee from the Rusk County Jail has been caught and his girlfriend and one of his relatives are accused of helping him. The U.S. Marshal's Service on Monday announced 46-year-old James Craig McGee was captured Sunday night during a traffic stop in Tyler.

Gary Don McGee of Tyler was with his brother and was arrested on a charge of hindering apprehension.

James Craig McGee fled around 5 a.m. Sunday. Deputy Marshal Chris Deaton says the investigation continues into how he escaped.

Deaton says warrants were issued for Myrtle Watson Lacy of Henderson and for Gary Don McGee. Lacy is charged with facilitating escape.

Deaton had no information on attorneys for the trio, who remained in custody.

James McGee recently was convicted of burglary and must serve 10 years in prison.
