Alleged plot to take infant foiled

TYLER, TX Ashley Harris and Casey Bradford could receive life sentences if convicted of their first-degree burglary charges. Bonds are set at $500,000 each.

A police statement issued Friday says Harris ingratiated herself with the newborn's mother at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler on Aug. 29. On Monday, Harris got directions to the mother's Tyler home. Bradford barged in, saying he was a case worker and was removing the child.

Police say the mother, who isn't identified, refused the demand, and Bradford left when he realized her relatives were en route. Tyler and Longview police say they determined Harris and Bradford were in cahoots and were arrested yesterday.
