Girl, 3, attacked by pit bull

NEW CANEY, TX Deputies say the little girl was being watched by her aunt at the time when the family pet attacked her. Investigators say the aunt tried to help the child, but the dog turned on her as well.

The little girl is in critical condition at Hermann Hospital. Her aunt was also taken to Kingwood Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

Animal control officials took the dog from the home. Other dogs in the home that weren't involved in the attack were allowed to stay.
