Three teens struck by van in NE Houston

September 4, 2009 7:29:45 PM PDT
Three teenagers were struck by a van Friday afternoon while walking home from school in northeast Houston. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said three male teens were walking home from school in the 12500 block of Ticonderoga around 3:40pm Friday. They were walking east in the westbound lane when a driver approached behind them also traveling east. The driver was apparently distracted by something inside his vehicle and he drove into the westbound lane, striking all three teenagers.

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were transported to Memorial Hermann by Life Flight and both are listed in critical condition. The third male, who is 15, was transported to LBJ Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Sheriffs say the crash remains under investigation.
