Car fire causes massive damage to home

SUGAR LAND, TX It happened around 2am at a home on Truslow Point and Marden. The husband and wife who live in the home are lucky to be alive after massive flames ate away at their rental property.

The fire spread up to the second floor and into the attic as well. The residents first thought that somebody was trying to break into the home. The couple was able to get out on their own.

"The first priority was to make sure that the occupants were outside, so that delayed some of our fire activities. We did a primary search on the first floor and on the second floor. At that time, after it was all clear and the occupants were out and no one else was inside, we did our fire tactics," said Battalion Chief Curtis LeGrotte of the Sugar Land Fire Department.

The two cars in the garage were a total loss. The home also suffered massive damage.

No one was injured in the fire. An investigation is underway.
