Houston celebrates Mexico's 2010 bicentennial

The Consul General of Mexico Tuesday announced a year-long schedule of events to commemorate two historic milestones for Mexico. The Consul General, Carlos Gonzalez-Magallon, says Mexico has a variety of events on tap over the next year to mark the bicentennial of the Mexican revolution and the centennial of Mexican independence. The events include art exhibits, concerts and festivals that center on Mexican history and culture.

"Through the arts, through the culture, through many, many good things, I think the Mexican community and everyone should recognize of its extreme importance to Houston," said the Consul General.
