Stanford back in jail with leg aneurysm

September 1, 2009 2:43:27 PM PDT
A lawyer for Texas billionaire R. Allen Stanford says his client is back in the Montgomery County Jail after medical tests detected a non-life-threatening aneurysm in his leg. Attorney Dick DeGuerin says doctors at Conroe Regional Medical Center said the condition diagnosed Monday could be resolved through elective surgery. DeGuerin worries the condition could worsen.

Stanford has been returned to the jail infirmary in Conroe. The 59-year-old financier has denied allegations in a 21-count federal indictment that accuses him of orchestrating a $7 billion fraud. He underwent medical tests after missing a court date last week because of a high pulse rate.

Conroe is 40 miles north of Houston.
