Police teach auto theft prevention

HOUSTON Houston City Council Member Wanda Adams teamed up with police to issue vehicle report cards on the southwest side. Officers inspected vehicles at four churches Sunday morning. Most received a failing grade.

"We had people leaving their car doors open to people leaving cell phones, iPods, leaving laptop computers. And believe it or not, we've seen many cars where there are actually female persons inside in the front seat," said Council Member Adams.

She organized the exercise in response to an increase in auto burglaries in District D. Adams says most people appreciated the wake-up call.
