A driver who allegedly picked the wrong vehicle for a ride is facing charges after an ambulance was taken from outside a Bryan hospital. Lawrence Eugene Reyes Jr. of Richards on Monday remained in the Brazos County Jail on charges of public intoxication, several counts of theft and evading officers.

A jailer who declined to provide his name to The Associated Press had no details on an attorney for the 25-year-old Reyes, who was arrested Sunday.

Bail was $425 on the public intoxication charge. No bail had been set for the other charges.

WTAW Radio reports medics were inside the hospital tending to a patient when the ambulance was swiped early Sunday.

Officers located the undamaged ambulance a few miles away. Reyes, who allegedly fled on foot, was arrested hours later.
