Back to school means school zone fines

August 18, 2009 2:56:02 PM PDT
Back to school means school zones will be back in effect. Here's a reminder of what those tickets can cost you. The average fine for going ten miles over the speed limit in a school zone is:

  • $245 in Houston
  • $225 in Sugar Land and Baytown
  • $222 in Galveston
  • $220 in Pasadena
  • $125 in Texas City
  • $250 in Katy

Beginning in September, a new state law goes into effect. No one is allowed to talk on a hand held cell phone in a school zone. There is a hefty fine if you're cited.
