Saavedra successor named this week?

HOUSTON Current Superintendent Abe Saavedra is stepping down in less than two weeks. At last check, the Houston school board was down to 11 candidates for the superintendent job. They may have those names whittled down to just one by a public meeting set for Thursday.

If there's a consensus, the Houston Chronicle reports the board may name the new HISD superintendent then.
