Two rescued off Galveston jetties

HOUSTON Watchstanders at Sector Houston-Galveston received a call at approximately 10:30pm Thursday from a crewmember on board a 36 foot fishing vessel reporting the vessel had been "slammed against the rocks." A 25 foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Galveston was dispatched and an Air Station Houston MH-65C rescue helicopter crew was launched to the scene.

The rescue helicopter crew hoisted the two crewmembers from the boat and transported them to Ellington Field to awaiting EMS crews. Both crewmembers were reported to be in good condition.

The boat will be salvaged by a private contractor.
