Intracoastal reopens after 2 towboats collide

HIGH ISLAND, TX The Coast Guard in Port Arthur says no injuries were reported in the accident, which shut down the water route for about half a day until late Tuesday afternoon.

The Coast Guard says the vessels Caroline and Miss Stacie were towing barges near the Texas 124 bridge when they collided.

The Caroline was refloated and towed to Lake Charles, La., for repairs. Its barges were transported to Houston by another vessel. The Miss Stacie was not damaged.

The Coast Guard says a minimal amount of oil was released and cleaned up.
