Swine flu vaccine tested in Houston

August 11, 2009 9:11:29 AM PDT
Houston's Baylor College of Medicine is one of eight US centers beginning experimental swine flu vaccine testing today. The study of more than 2,500 people will test the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines developed by drug makers. The testing is government-funded.

Doctors say they have been working late nights and weekends to organize the studies and recruit volunteers. Health officials expect to have the first 160 million doses available sometime this fall.
