Teacher accused of having sex with student

PLANO, TX Mariane Kieffer faces charges of sexual assault and improper relationship between an educator and student. The Dallas Morning News reports the teacher at Carpenter Middle School in Plano turned herself in to Collin County authorities late Friday and was released on bond shortly afterward.

A phone number listed for Kieffer was disconnected, and she didn't immediately respond to an e-mail from The Associated Press. She told the Dallas newspaper that she couldn't comment.

A Plano school district spokeswoman said Kieffer is on administrative leave.
