Animal rights activists rally downtown

Animal lovers on Monday staged a show of support for a volunteer who went public with concerns about animal abuse at the Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control, but is now being accused of lying. The group held a demonstration outside the Criminal Justice Center in downtown Houston to support Shelby Kibodeaux. A judge found probable cause to send Kibodeaux to trial. He faces a charge of filing a false police report after contacting city officials about alleged abuse at BARC.

"I wanna go home and cry. I just wanna," he said on Monday. "I love everybody that I know here. I just wanna go away. I'm embarrassed. It's just ridiculous. I can't believe that I have, I'm at a loss for words."

Kibodeaux has another court hearing August 28.
