Man wanted in Harris County caught in Nebraska

HOUSTON Christopher Mortiz has been wanted on two felony warrants, one for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Harris County and one for larceny out of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Late last month, an anonymous tipster led police to Mortiz, who was working in Nebraska and living in Iowa.

Officials with the Gage County, Nebraska Sheriff's Office arrested Mortiz at his job the day after the tip came in. During the arrest, police say he was in possession ofa stolen flatbed trailer.

Investigators in Nebraska, Iowa and Texas are working together in an ongoing investigation and to date have recovered over $500,000 in stolen vehicles and property.
