Child drownings at record high in TX

August 4, 2009 6:14:36 PM PDT
The number of child drownings in Texas is now at a record high. Eighty-four children have drowned so far this year, the highest number since 2008, when the number reached 82 for the entire year.

Seven-year old twin boys drowned this past weekend while swimming in a lake near Snyder.

Officials are urging parents to be careful, especially over Labor Day weekend, when families will be at lakes and swimming pools.
