City leaders discuss future of BARC

HOUSTON Houston's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care has dealt with a series of scandals that culminated in the firing of its last director. Many dogs from the city pound have died from distemper recently, and BARC employees have been accused of mistreating animals. In a hearing today, the city council will discuss hiring a consultant for $208,000.

Today's meeting starts at 3pm in the city council chambers. The public will have an opportunity to speak.
