Two HPD officers involved in separate wrecks

Police are investigating two separate accidents involving officers.The first accident happened on the northbound feeder of the Gulf Freeway near Fuqua. Witnesses say something made the officer swerve and lose control. The officer's patrol car struck the curb, went airborne and hit a sign.

At least one officer was in the car. That officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Authorities were also at the scene of an officer-involved accident on the westbound lanes of the Westpark Tollway at Tanglewild. This accident happened around 7:30am. The officer apparently collided with a Volvo.

The squad car suffered massive damage. The officer was transported to a hospital. The officer's condition is unknown. No word if the other driver suffered any injuries.

At least one lane was closed as crews worked to clear the accident.
