Four men convicted on drug charges

A federal jury has convicted four Rio Grande Valley men on drug trafficking and money laundering charges for a scheme that used medical oxygen tanks and UPS to smuggle cocaine. The U.S. attorney's office said Wednesday that 44-year-old Mariano Alvarez, of Rio Grande City and 48-year-old Eden Flores Sr., were convicted late Tuesday in Houston. Also, brothers 45-year-old Guadalupe Hernandez and 43-year-old Abrham Hernandez, of Mission, were convicted.

It was the second trial of the case. The original trial ended last year in a mistrial in McAllen.
