Drowning victim's family holds water safety seminar

July 20, 2009 3:46:24 AM PDT
A Houston family who lost their son in a drowning accident is sponsoring a water safety seminar for lifeguards and pool staff. Last week, a three-year-old girl drowned in a community pool in Humble. She was just one of more than 60 kids who have drowned in Texas so far this year. With the hot summer weather here to stay, the risk will remain for several more months.

Parents are encouraged to attend Monday's workshop which will focus on aquatic injury prevention. The seminar starts at 10am Monday morning at the United Way Community Resource Center at 50 Waugh Drive in southwest Houston.
